About the Role
We’re looking for an Environmental Consulting Operations Manager (ECOM) - someone who can bring structure to the chaos (the good kind), support the team, and keep projects moving efficiently from start to finish.
This is a relationship-centric role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with people, and making sure the right things happen at the right time - without needing a spreadsheet to have a personality (though you’ll probably still love a good spreadsheet).
What You’ll Be Doing
* Liaising with clients on bookings, deliverables and scope variations - keeping projects on track and expectations aligned
* Coordinating day-to-day team operations, including work allocation and resource planning
* Setting up new projects and monitoring performance using our cloud-based project management system
* Identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement (and actually doing something about them)
* Troubleshooting project and delivery issues and implementing practical solutions
* Conducting internal audits and performance reviews to keep things running efficiently
* Championing safety and modelling strong, positive leadership
* Supporting the team with clear expectations, coaching and performance development
* Creating opportunities for on-the-job learning, mentoring and skill-building
* Maintaining inductions, WHS systems and compliance with legislative and client requirements
* Stepping into client meetings where needed to ensure continuity and confidence
* Keeping an eye out for new business opportunities (because good operators always do)
* Working closely with admin and finance to ensure accurate and timely invoicing
About You
* 3-5+ years’ experience in operations or project management (environmental consulting or construction industry experience highly regarded)
* Confident leading teams, managing workloads and keeping multiple projects moving
* Comfortable working with budgets, systems and process improvement
* A clear communicator who can negotiate, organise and build strong working relationships
* Able to delegate effectively while maintaining accountability
* Committed to safe work practices and team wellbeing
* Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required
* Full working rights in Australia
Nice to Have (But Not Essential)
* Experience in ecological or environmental consulting
* Familiarity with project management systems (bonus points if cloud-based)
* Experience working across multi-disciplinary teams
* Experience preparing or contributing to project quotes and cost estimates
* Highly Regarded Operational Superpowers (Unofficial but Useful)
* Can spot a scheduling conflict before it becomes a problem
* Knows how to keep projects moving without creating noise
* Comfortable making decisions when information is incomplete (because sometimes it is)
* Can translate “field team chaos” into “client-ready clarity”
* Understands that good operations = happy team + happy clients
