There's something for everyone with a wine portfolio ranging from the young and fun to the traditional, venerable - and everything in between. For the Sales Rep, this is gold - the opportunity to move volumes of appealing wines into venues of all types - and be sure of pleasing their clientele.
It's a role with great possibilities for an experienced and confident Sales Rep with a strong sales background - ideally in a situation where you've worked independently to build a territory. Experienced with CRM, inventory management systems and sales dashboards, you'll have serviced your customers in the end-to-end management of their accounts, created events such as tastings and launches of new products, providing interesting up-to-date information and maybe even offered some on-the-job training.
But of course, it's not all one way, as you know. Your involvement is on-going as you continue searching out innovative ways to improve account performance by knowing what your clients are pouring, what their customers are drinking and what's happening in their venues.
In this highly competitive industry, you need to be especially proactive in identifying current opportunities to build business. Cold calling, trade tasting, personally dining out, attending new venues and so on are all part of building those all-important relationships with Owners, Venue Managers, Sommeliers and Bar Managers. As are continuing visits to wine regions to get to know producers and grow your knowledge - and theirs.
To win due success in this well rewarded role, you need to be an experienced Sales Rep with excellent communications and interpersonal skills and a personality that's proven to open doors!
Highly organised and a skilled planner, you enjoy working independently to manage your own clients, time and targets and will enjoy learning more about the wines that you already enjoy week to week.
