**SMS Mining Services is a privately owned, West Australian-based Mining Contractor. Founded in 2000, SMS has progressed from being solely Equipment Rental to now having extensive involvement in the Maintenance, Contract Mining, and Drill and Blast Divisions.**At SMS we pride ourselves on our positive work culture and ability to deliver desired results. This is a new project in the Midwest 370km from Perth and 160km from Geraldton as part of the SMS Maintenance department. We are looking for an experienced OHS / Training Advisor to join our team on permanent basis, this position is will pay an integral role in the safe operations of the project and the development of our people.**Job tasks and responsibilities**:
- Conduct initial incident investigations and reporting.
- Support the projects critical risk management process.
- Assist with the implementation of the site's fitness for work monitoring program.
- Conduct Field Interaction.
- Compile EOM reporting.
- Assist in the injury management process.
- Actively participate in improvement activities i.e., inspections/audits, toolbox meetings, training needs analysis.
- Provide recommendations for the improvement of health and safety related policies/procedures.
- Responsible for the training and assessing of all Maintenance workers onsite.
- Ensuring that all employees are suitably trained/ certified to work on heavy machinery.
- Maintaining and updating employee training records and training plans on skills matrix
- Maintain and update the company Training Data base as required.
**Skills and Experience**:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessing
- Certificate IV in OHS
- Experience in a Site Trainer Role
- Strong time management and coordination ability
- Be a team player.
- Development and continual review of operational documentation
- Good understanding of the Australian Training Guidelines
- Experience in working with a diverse workforce.
- Proven experience with development, implementation, execution and continuous improvement of Health and Safety systems
