The School of Science, Technology, and Engineering (SSTE) is a leader in addressing global challenges through STEM education, equipping students with the skills to develop innovative, sustainable solutions. Our Engineering Discipline is a growing hub of research and teaching excellence, with strengths in sustainable building, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, and more. Collaborating with industry partners like Veolia and SMEC, we bridge academic and practical expertise. UniSC ranks above the national average for student experience, with 86% of our engineering graduates securing full-time employment (QILT Survey 2021). We are expanding programs, including new offerings at our Moreton Bay Campus, and exploring postgraduate qualifications to meet future needs.
The Opportunity
The School of Science, Technology and Engineering is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to help shape the future of engineering education and research at UniSC. You will play a key role in designing and delivering our postgraduate and undergraduate programs, while contributing to a collaborative academic community with strong industry and government links. This is an opportunity to develop your research agenda in an environment that values sustainability, innovation, and real-world impact. You will:
- Deliver engaging teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs;
- Grow your research profile through projects, publications, grants, and supervision;
- Contribute to School and University initiatives through governance and student-focused activities;
- Build industry and community connections to enhance learning, research, and impact.
As a Senior Lecturer (Level C), you will also:
- Provide academic leadership in teaching, curriculum development, and program coordination;
- Lead impactful research with a strong publication, funding, and supervision record;
- Shape the strategic direction of the School through leadership roles;
- Drive industry and community engagement to broaden opportunities for students and research.
About you:

You are committed to creating positive learning experiences, impactful research, and fostering an inclusive environment where students, colleagues, and communities feel supported and inspired.
You will possess:
- A doctoral qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;
- Experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with expertise in areas like advanced system design, energy, or electromechanical systems;
- A passion for engaging teaching, course design, and supporting student success in face-to-face and online modes;
- An emerging research profile with potential contributions to energy, manufacturing, or materials engineering;
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive academic culture;
- Experience in academic governance and program coordination;
- Professional memberships or industry links supporting student outcomes;
- A willingness to continue learning and developing as an academic leader.
As a Senior Lecturer (Level C), you will also:
- Demonstrate teaching excellence, leadership, and curriculum innovation;
- Have an established research profile with quality publications and impact;
- Lead academic initiatives and contribute strategically to your discipline and school;
- Be recognized as a valued member of professional and academic networks nationally and internationally.
