SBS World News Cross-Platform Journalist/Producer - Casual
Level 3 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement.
Hourly rate: $57‐$62 per hour, including 24% casual loading. Additional shift penalty payments may apply for work outside ordinary hours, weekend and public holiday shifts. Overtime may be required and paid accordingly.
The Role
As a Casual Cross‐Platform Journalist/Producer with SBS World News, you will deliver high‐quality, distinctive journalism across multiple platforms. You will report, write, edit and produce compelling news content, manage the full editorial process from pitching, developing story ideas to crafting scripts, conducting interviews, coordinating with editors and camera crews, and delivering polished content on tight deadlines.
Tasks include breaking news, live crosses, in‐field reporting, and digital storytelling across platforms. The role is fast paced and varied, requiring strong news judgment and editorial integrity.
About you
You have 7+ years of journalism experience and a strong foundation in cross‐platform news production. You are proactive, adaptable, and can juggle competing deadlines while upholding the highest editorial standards.
Qualifications and skills
* Degree in journalism
* Proven experience reporting major stories and covering breaking news
* Strong research skills and the ability to look beyond traditional sources
* Confidence working with in‐field crews, conducting interviews and presenting live
* Ability to generate original story ideas with compelling vision and audio
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach that supports team culture
* International experience highly desirable
