AO6 Senior Communications AdvisorContract to 2028 | QLD State Government | Sunshine Coast LocationWe are currently seeking an experienced Senior Communications Advisor to join our client within the Queensland State Government on a long-term infrastructure project based on the Sunshine Coast.This is a rare opportunity to take on a pivotal role supporting a major transport infrastructure initiative.
The successful candidate will lead strategic communication and community engagement efforts to build strong stakeholder relationships and foster public understanding of the project.Position OverviewLocation: Buderim, QLDDuration: 19 May 2025 – 12 May 2028Classification: AO6Rate: $77.02 – $82.40 per hour + super (commensurate with experience)Work hours: Up to 38 hours per week, flexible arrangements in placeApplication deadline: Tuesday, 23 April 2025Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement strategic communication plans aligned with project goalsLead community engagement activities, including public consultationsDeliver clear, timely and targeted messaging across channels including media, newsletters, social media and project updatesProvide expert advice and support to senior leadership and project teamsManage issues and crisis communications effectivelyPrepare high-level briefing notes, speeches and presentationsMonitor media coverage and public sentiment to inform strategyMentor communication staff and contribute to a collaborative team environmentEvaluate communication activities and report on engagement outcomesMandatory RequirementsMinimum five (5) years' experience in a communications and community engagement role, preferably within infrastructure, construction, or governmentInternational Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certification, or willingness to obtain independentlyDesirable CriteriaDegree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketingClass C Driver's LicenceStrong writing, editing and presentation skillsDemonstrated experience managing stakeholders at all levelsUnderstanding of Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) frameworkThis role demands a strategic thinker with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills who can confidently guide the public interface of a high-impact project.
