The Advisor, Communications will play a pivotal role in supporting the Manager of Communications to share the message of the Archbishop and the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth.
This role is a new position designed to help with the increasing workload.The ideal candidate is a proactive and self-assured individual who can take initiative – someone ready to roll up their sleeves and effectively contribute to organisational goals.ABOUT THE ORGANISATIONThe Catholic Archdiocese of Perth has 106 Parishes and circa 15 Agencies within its boundaries.
Each parish is led by a priest appointed by the Archbishop of Perth.
Agencies are managed by a Director and deliver a wide variety of ministries, including faith enrichment and formation, liturgy, safeguarding, disability and mental health support, counselling, Aboriginal outreach, marriage and family education services, homelessness support, justice, and ecology education programmes, training courses and employment support, migrant and refugee services, and prison chaplaincy.
The Office of the Archbishop (OOA) and the Chancery are situated at Griver House, 249 Adelaide Terrace, Perth.The Office of Communications is a close-knit and high-performing team that works collaboratively on executing various communication deliverables for the Archdiocese.ABOUT THE ROLEThe Advisor, Communications will be responsible for providing advice and direct support to stakeholders across the Archdiocese on communications strategies and campaigns.
This includes developing content for the Archdiocesan websites and other platforms used by internal and external audiences.
This can involve working after-hours and on weekends, as needs may arise unexpectedly.Key Responsibilities include:Triage & Operations: Triage a high-volume of tasks and support the office's operational needs.
Effectively prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines is crucial.Content Creation & Management: Prepare and develop communications content for high-level campaigns and strategies, with a focus on the Archbishop, Bishop, and other key stakeholders.Advisory & Strategy: Provide advice and direct support to parishes, agencies and offices on communications strategies and campaigns.
Support the Manager, Communications in implementing high-level communications strategies.Content Production: Utilise intermediate knowledge of digital photography and videography for content development and post-production.
Help coordinate communication aspects of events and promotional activities, using digital platforms and social media to enhance audience engagement.Stakeholder Relations: Collaborate with internal team members and external professionals to support the Office of Communications.The above list is not an exhaustive list of duties.

To access the full job description, please contact ABOUT YOUIdeal SkillsHave:Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism.Minimum five years' experience in a similar roleAdvanced proficiency in the Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite.Intermediate skills in social media and newsletter systems like Mailchimp.Experience using a DSLR camera for both photography and videography.Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skillsStrong emotional intelligence and ability to work with individuals at varying levels of understanding and experience.Self-assured and proactive, with the confidence to provide expert advicePositive can-do attitude and service mindsetPersonal commitment to witnessing and promoting the ethos and values of the Catholic Church.Ability to:Demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality.Show initiative, resilience, and organisation when handling tasks.Take initiatives and be comfortable with a fast-paced environment where you will need to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Build relationships and empower fellow employees of the Archdiocese.Understand the role and structures of the Catholic Church in contemporary Australian society, including its social teaching.Uphold and exemplify the organisation's values and behavioursTravel both intra and interstate on occasionThe successful applicant will be subject to Federal Police Clearance (and maybe Medical Check).
