About the Role
Applus+ Renewable Energy Services is a global leader in technical advisory, engineering, and QA/QC services for renewable energy projects. With over 20 years of industry experience, we support clients worldwide across solar, wind and energy storage developments. We are seeking a Community & Stakeholder Engagement Officer to support a major renewable energy project. The Officer will be responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with local stakeholders, landholders, community groups, contractors and local authorities throughout the construction phase of a Fraser Coast based Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, and will also provide support to additional renewable energy projects under development in the region.
Principle Duties
* Oversee day‐to‐day operations and maintenance of solar PV plants across the region supported by the Site Supervisor.
* Support the implementation of the project's Community Engagement & Benefit Sharing Plan during the construction phase.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with local communities, landholders, Traditional Owners, neighbours, councils and other stakeholders.
* Respond to community enquiries and complaints in a professional and respectful manner.
* Coordinate community meetings, information sessions and stakeholder engagement activities.
* Maintain accurate records of stakeholder interactions and engagement activities.
* Support the preparation of community engagement reports, presentations and communication materials.
* Liaise closely with the construction team and internal project stakeholders to ensure community issues are appropriately managed.
* Assist in monitoring community sentiment and identifying potential social risks or opportunities.
* Support additional renewable energy projects under development within the region as required.
* Ensure all engagement activities are undertaken in accordance with company values, project commitments and relevant approvals.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Previous experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, communications, project support or a related field.
* Strong interpersonal and relationship‐building skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including rural communities and contractors.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project team.
* Professional, approachable and solutions‐focused attitude.
* High level of integrity, discretion and emotional intelligence.
* Strong conflict resolution and problem‐solving skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
* Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Desirable
* Experience working on infrastructure, renewable energy, construction or regional projects.
* Knowledge of the Fraser Coast region and local communities.
* Experience engaging with landholders, Traditional Owners or regional stakeholders.
* Understanding of renewable energy projects and the construction environment.
Additional Information
This position requires travel between project sites within Queensland and occasional interstate travel to Melbourne and Canberra for internal meetings, workshops and coordination with broader project and corporate teams. Applicants must hold valid, unrestricted Australian working rights and must not require visa sponsorship.
