Hotel Operations Manager Job
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Hotel Operations Manager to lead our Engineering department, ensuring the smooth functioning of essential hotel systems and overseeing maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the operation of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and fire safety systems.
* Liaise with contractors, architects, and construction teams to ensure proper operation of all mechanical and electrical systems.
* Guarantee that all equipment and systems meet local health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Create and implement a preventive maintenance plan to keep all systems running smoothly.
* Review and update all equipment operating manuals and train the engineering team on their use.
* Train hotel colleagues on hotel-specific equipment, systems, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
* Implement energy-saving measures to maximize operational efficiency.
* Work closely with the finance team to manage the engineering operations budget, purchasing tools, spare parts, and systems.
* Handle procurement of necessary parts, materials, and equipment from vendors.
Requirements
* Advanced vocational training plus five years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a management position.
* Specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields (preferred).
* Professional certification and licence if required by law.
* Hotel experience preferred.
* Experience leading a renovation or refurbishment project.
* Full working rights in Australia without restrictions.
* Ability to work autonomously and manage workload and key deliverables within project timelines.
* High-level communication and relationship-management skills, collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders.
