About the position
The Library Assistant position will be responsible for contributing to the overall maintenance and development of Public Library services provided to the community.
The position will travel to district libraries as required to operate a library independently. A council vehicle will be provided for this purpose where possible.
This position will work under regular direction.
- This is a Casual position based at the Highfields Library.
- The hourly rate for this position is $37.75 - $40.85 gross per hour, plus casual loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.

How to be successful in this position - Success Criteria
- Hold the mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the 'Success Criteria' in the Position Description (Once logged into your Seek account, click the ‘Apply’ button to be redirected to the Toowoomba Regional Council advertisement to access the Position Description and to apply).
- Sound oral and written communication skills and numeracy skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to provide accurate and timely advice in a helpful and supportive manner.
- Ability to plan, create and deliver library programs for children aged 0-12 years, young people aged 12-18 years and adults.
- The ability to learn and use the Library Management System and apps, and introduce new technologies for digital literacy programs.
- Basic skills in assisting customers one-to-one across a range of technology including phones, tablets, laptops and computers.
- Sound computer literacy skills including the capacity to effectively use the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of time management and organisational skills with the ability to plan and organise own work within deadlines.
- Understanding of and commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Teamwork.
