Steelarc Engineering, a family-owned business located in Mackay, is on the lookout for a proactive and experienced Workshop Leading Hand

Role Overview:

As a Workshop Leading Hand, you will oversee and lead a team in the repair and refurbishment of various trays, buckets, and blades. This includes working on repairs ranging from small-scale light fabrication to large-scale heavy-duty projects. In this role, you'll also work closely with the repairs estimator to help manage workflow and ensure the timely and efficient completion of repair projects. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys leadership responsibilities while ensuring high standards of workmanship are met for repair jobs.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and supervise a team in the efficient and safe repair of steel and metal components, with a primary focus on trays, buckets, and blades.

* Work with the repairs estimator to ensure accurate pricing, time estimates, and project planning.

* Oversee the day-to-day operations of repair work within the workshop, ensuring workflow is maintained and deadlines are met.

* Coordinate repair projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and timelines.

* Maintain focus on safety practices while handling a variety of repair tasks.

* Mentor team members and provide guidance on best practices for repairs and safety.

* Collaborate closely with management to ensure projects are completed on time and to the client’s specifications.

Skills & Experience:

* Trade Qualification as a Boilermaker.

* Proven experience in light and heavy fabrication, with a strong focus on repair work involving trays, buckets, and blades.

* Solid understanding of repair techniques and troubleshooting for heavy-duty components.

* Experience in working with a repairs estimator to coordinate workflows, pricing, and time management.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Proactive with a safety-first approach to repair projects.

* High attention to detail, focus, and work ethic.

* Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with excellent time management and reliability.

* Gantry Crane License. - preferred

* Forklift License. - preferred

* Current Driver’s License.
