About the Role
This position supports First Nations children and families in Townsville through our Thriving Kinnections Program. We value the knowledge, strengths, and lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and encourage applications from First Nations candidates.
In this role, you will provide culturally informed interventions to individuals and families impacted by family violence. Your work will focus on fostering healthy relationships, addressing violent and abusive behaviors, and ensuring safety and wellbeing.
You will:
* Provide individual case management, support, referral, and group work to people impacted by family violence.
* Deliver community development strategies to raise awareness about domestic and family violence and its impact on individuals, relationships, and culture.
* Utilize a strong understanding of intergenerational trauma relevant to First Nations people in all aspects of service delivery.
* Contribute to a service designed in collaboration with the community, for people who experience domestic and family violence and those who use violence.
About the Service
The Family Safety and Wellbeing Service increases safety and wellbeing for men, women, and children within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The service provides assistance to:
* People experiencing domestic and family violence, including children and extended family.
* People who use violence in their relationships and families.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
* Undergraduate qualifications in Social or Behavioural Sciences.
* Experience applying frameworks to build healthy relationships with Australia's First Nations people.
* An understanding that workers, based on their gender, may work in men's or women's business in accordance with cultural expectations.
* An understanding of trauma-informed practice, family, and ecological systems.
What We Offer
We offer a salary range of $84,000 to $98,000 per annum, plus superannuation, flexible working hours, additional annual leave, study leave, and opportunities for professional development.
