What's the Role:
We're seeking a hands on Solution Engineering Lead to guide a cross-functional team of data engineers and analysts across onshore and offshore locations. This role is central to delivering high-impact data solutions that support the UNITE program, drive business outcomes, and pioneer agentic AI innovation. You'll work closely with product owners, program managers, domain architects and business SMEs to translate complex requirements into scalable data products—ensuring technical excellence, production stability, and clear communication with senior stakeholders.
The Role:
Leadership & Collaboration
· Lead and mentor lead engineers and engineering teams across onshore and offshore hubs, ensuring alignment on delivery goals, standards, and timelines.
· People Leadership responsibilities for 6-8 Engineers or Designers.
· Partner with product owners, program managers, domain architects, and business stakeholders to define scope, priorities, and success metrics.
· Engage with project managers to groom and maintain a well-defined backlog that reflects business needs and technical feasibility.
· Facilitate agile ceremonies, technical reviews, and cross-team coordination to ensure seamless execution.
Technical Delivery & Production Readiness
· Oversee the technical delivery process, ensuring robust design, scalable implementation, and maintainable code.
· Conduct thorough code reviews and implementation plan reviews to uphold engineering standards.
· Define and enforce production readiness criteria, including performance benchmarks, rollback strategies, and monitoring protocols.
· Ensure zero-defect releases by coordinating testing, validation, and release management activities.
· Secure necessary approvals from governance forums to unblock developers and enable timely build execution.
· Act as a subject matter expert (SME) to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges faced by the team.
Data Engineering & Analytics
· Design and oversee the development of robust data pipelines using Python, SQL, Azure Synapse, and Informatica.
· Ensure data quality, governance, and lifecycle management across platforms.
· Apply analytic thinking to solve business problems and deliver actionable insights.
Agentic AI & Innovation
· Champion the use of agentic AI to automate design, development, and testing tasks—accelerating delivery and reducing manual effort.
· Lead the deployment of autonomous AI agents that generate code, metadata, and test artefacts from mapping documents.
· Explore and implement AI-driven productivity tools to enhance innovation across the data lifecycle.
UNITE Program Delivery
· Align engineering deliverables with UNITE's transformation goals, including simplification, regulatory uplift, and platform modernisation.
· Support integrated testing environments and data migration milestones.
· Contribute to discovery labs, estimation workshops, and remediation strategies.
Communication & Problem Solving
· Translate complex technical challenges into clear, business-friendly language for senior management.
· Provide structured feedback and recommended solutions that align with strategic priorities and delivery timelines.
· Support decision-making by framing technical risks, trade-offs, and opportunities in terms of business impact.
What do I need?
* Proven leadership experience in data architecture, solution architecture and design, data engineering and analytics across distributed teams including People Leadership.
* Strong technical expertise in Python, SQL, Informatica, Unix, Control M, Azure, Snowflake, and data architecture principles.
* Experience in large-scale transformation programs such as UNITE, with exposure to testing, migration, and regulatory uplift.
* Demonstrated ability to engage with business stakeholders and convert requirements into technical solutions.
* Familiarity with agentic AI concepts and tools, including autonomous agents and intelligent automation.
* Deep understanding of production environments, release management, and incident prevention strategies.
* Experience navigating governance forums and securing delivery approvals.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and inform senior stakeholders.
* Agile mindset with experience in Lean, Design Thinking, and scaled delivery frameworks.
