**Job description**:
Reporting to the Regional Assistant Director, your day-to-day responsibilities will include but are not restricted to:
- Undertaking visits to aged care services, either as part of a team or individually, to monitor the service's performance with the Aged Care Quality Standards via a standardised Quality and Safety Spot Check methodology.
- Engaging with aged care service providers to collect information including conducting interviews with service staff and management.
- Conducting in person interviews with consumers and/or their representatives about the quality of care and services provided by an aged care service.
- Where relevant, escalate on-site performance observations to an Assistant Director for follow up.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Ability to accurately and efficiently collect and record on-site observations reported within a standardized checklist methodology.
2. Identify risk and communicate potential harms in an aged care service and escalate observations.
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage interpersonal relationships and communicate appropriately with internal and external stakeholders.
4. Work effectively as a team member and/or team leader to accomplish goals.
5. An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
6. Understand and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, particularly the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act (2018) and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Rules (2018) and the Aged Care Quality Standards or be able to demonstrate a capacity to quickly acquire this knowledge.
7. Be an effective representative of the organisation, acting professionally (including adhering to APS Values & Code of Conduct) and operating within the boundaries of organisational processes and legal and public policy directions
Desirable qualifications or experience:
- Experience of working in a contemporary regulatory environment or other administrative decision-making function.
- Experience of working in infection control and prevention related roles.
Travel Expectations: Extensive travel is an inherent requirement of the role. Travel requirements involve several nights or overnight travel each week or fortnight. Applicable travel expenses are covered under the Commission's travel policy, and a current driver's licence is essential to support the travel expectations of the role.
Salary offered will be between $89,394 and $100,849 per annum + 15.4% superannuation.
Appointment is conditional on successfully completing a national police check.
Roles involving field work require the provision of evidence of having had a seasonal influenza and COVID 19 vaccinations.
