Individual Learning Teacher (Y7-12)
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The role of the Individual Learning Teacher is focused on supporting the needs of a diverse range of
students who, may require a personalised approach to their learning. Students with diverse needs are
incorporated within a multi-tiered system for support framework, which is developed within the whole school
context and reflects Barker's strategic teaching and learning priorities.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Identification and Assessment
• Use a range of assessment tools, (including interpretation of standardised and curriculum-based
assessments) to identify students with diverse learning needs and inform personalised support
strategies
* Collaboratively developing adjusted assessment strategies and appropriate reporting formats for
targeted students.
* Implementation of personalised teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
* Reporting and recording of student progress.
Supporting student learning through Teaching and Learning program planning and support
* Ability to Identify and implement evidence-based strategies and interventions to support student needs.
* Demonstrated ability and capacity to work cooperatively and productively as part of a team including
educators and allied health professionals.
* Ability to work collaboratively with a range of staff to plan, implement and evaluate differentiated
learning programs and curriculum.
* Capacity to team teach with a range of classroom teachers to collaboratively plan, implement and
evaluate the effectiveness of in-class strategies, supports and adjustments for targeted students.
* Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate a range of Learning Support programs and initiatives to improve
student outcomes.
* Ability to plan, coordinate, monitor and evaluate range of initiatives to cater for high potential students.
* Ability to teach Stage 4 English and/or Mathematics
Building School Capacity
• Assist with providing classroom teachers with professional advice and support (employing a range of
approaches e.g. team teaching, strategy modelling, teacher mentoring, staff information sessions) on
how to best cater for the diverse learning needs in their classrooms.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers in assessing and monitoring the progress
of students.
People & Culture
Student Disability Provisions
• Prepare student applications for Disability Provisions following Board of Studies guidelines.
* Invigilate assessment adjustments / disability provisions
* Identify/implement/evaluate appropriate Assessment Adjustments for students in
assessments/examinations.
Student Learning Plans (LP)
• Understanding of, and experience in, the collaborative process of designing and implementing Individual
Learning Plans.
* Preparation of appropriate Learning Plan documentation including feedback and information to key
stakeholders.
* Experience with NCCD and legislative responsibilities associated with the DDA and the Standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Relevant academic teaching qualifications and NESA qualifications
* Relevant teaching experience
