In this role, you'll:
You'll provide strategic leadership to embed Aboriginal voices in Transport for NSW decision-making, program design and delivery. This includes leading a multi-disciplinary team focused on building and sustaining trusted partnerships with Aboriginal communities, Peak bodies, Service Providers and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations that advances equitable outcomes and Closing the Gap commitments across NSW.
You'll evaluate and continuously monitor projects, initiatives and funding opportunities to reduce transport disadvantage and to ensure Aboriginal communities are delivering programs and projects to meet their needs.
You'll co-design, drive and implement changes to strengthen future programs and initiatives that reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal people road fatalities and serious injuries. Central to this role is partnering with Aboriginal communities to listen, learn, and co design transport initiatives that reflect local priorities and lived experience.
This permanent position is governed by our hybrid working model, which forms part of the organisation's Flexible Working Arrangements and associated procedures. This includes a combination of required onsite attendance in your home office and approved remote working. Regional candidates are encouraged to apply.

About you
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience, you'll have relevant experience leading Aboriginal engagement and co-design at scale, with proven ability to build trusted relationships and deliver equitable outcomes in government or complex service environments.
You'll have strong knowledge of Aboriginal cultural protocols, community governance, and relevant legislation/policies (e.g., Closing the Gap Priority Reforms, NSW Government Aboriginal Affairs frameworks), and how they translate into program delivery.
You're a self-starter, know how to build strong relationships, collaborate and communicate effectively to drive outcomes.
You act with integrity and professionalism and are committed to developing team capability and culturally safe practice.
This is an identified position. Credibility with the Aboriginal community, a sound understanding of Aboriginal cultures, and insight into the issues affecting Aboriginal people are essential.
