Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter to join our growing team. This full-time role is crucial to the successful delivery of our high-quality residential projects.
You will be responsible for constructing, assembling, installing, and repairing a variety of timber structures, fittings, and fixtures. Success in this role requires a sharp eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to quality, ensuring all work strictly adheres to project specifications, Australian Building Codes and Standards (AS/NZS), and all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) regulations.
Key Responsibilities
This role requires a skilled Carpenter capable of independently delivering structural and finish carpentry works to a high standard, ensuring project quality, compliance, and timely completion.
Structural Construction
* Read and accurately interpret architectural plans and technical drawings.
* Measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble timber and other materials to construct frameworks, sub-floors, walls, partitions, and roofing systems.
* Install, erect, and secure building frameworks.
* Fabricate and install high-quality finish components, including doors, windows, frames, architraves, skirting, cabinets, and custom joinery.
* Inspect, repair, and maintain existing wooden structures and fittings in renovation projects.
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure all work complies with the NCC (National Construction Code) and Australian Standards (e.g., AS 1684 for timber framing and AS 1720 for timber structures).
* Conduct quality checks on alignment, fitting, and finish for accuracy.
* Liaise with site supervisors to ensure inspection hold points are completed prior to installation or finishing stages.
Site Operations & Safety
* Accurately estimate, select, and assist in ordering timber and other materials, and prepare layouts.
* Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment in strict compliance with WHS legislation.
* Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely and efficiently.
Teamwork
* Proactively collaborate with all trades (Plumbers, Electricians, Plasterers) to maintain a smooth workflow and meet project timelines.
* Mentor and provide direction to apprentices and communicate effectively with subcontractors and supervisors.
Key Requirements
* Trade Qualification: Completion of a Certificate III in Carpentry (or equivalent overseas qualification assessed as comparable).
* Experience: Minimum of 1 year of post-qualification, full-time experience as a Carpenter in residential or commercial construction.
* Technical Skills: Proven competence in reading complex plans, accurate measuring, and skilled use of a comprehensive range of power and hand tools.
* Knowledge: Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the Australian Building Codes and relevant Standards (AS 1684, AS 1720).
* Safety: Strong commitment to and understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and safe work procedures.
