XS Espresso Parramatta is a place to get a morning coffee fix, satisfy the late-night dessert cravings and everything in between. When dining at XS, there will be an excess if decadent desserts outrageous milkshakes brunch classics and hybrid dishes. The locals and customers are always on the edge of their chair waiting for the newest dishes to come out of the XS kitchen.
The team at XS Espresso Parramatta is looking for a Chef who can oversee the restaurant's kitchen by managing other members of the food preparation team, deciding what dishes to serve, and adjusting orders to meet guests' requests.
Work will be conducted in a fully functioning, clean and organised kitchen. Applicants must have the ability to work well under pressure and time constraints, with knowledge of different varieties of foods and ingredients, communication skills, and the ability to accept criticism.
Duties:
* Plan, prepare, cook, and present food in accordance with the restaurant's menu and quality standards
* Exercise professional judgment in cooking techniques, flavour balance, portion control, and presentation
* Supervise, train, and coordinate the work of other kitchen staff
* Allocate duties and manage workflow during service, particularly during peak periods
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements
* Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation, cooking, and plating
* Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal menu updates
* Manage food preparation schedules and mise-en-place to meet service demand
* Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering supplies, and minimise food waste
* Ensure correct storage, rotation, and labelling of food items
* Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organisation in accordance with regulatory standards
* Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and efficient service
* Identify and resolve kitchen issues promptly to maintain service standards
Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications required however, 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the qualification
* Have at least 3 years of experience as a chef in a similar restaurant
* Planning menu and creating new dishes;
* Oversee pre-planning requirements of food and ordering required supply;
* Ensure quality dishes are prepared and presented;
* Manage kitchen including requirements for more staff and be responsible to train them;
* Have experience in upholding the proper health and safety requirements in the kitchen;
* Have experience in studying the current situation in the industry to ensure the business is working in accordance with the demands of the market.
