Key responsibilities
The Debt Recovery Officer proactively contacts customers via phone, email and written correspondence regarding debt, with the primary aim of recovering arrears. In this role you will:
- Provide excellent communication and negotiation skills, both on the telephone and face-to-face.
- Recover arrears.
- Identify customers experiencing financial vulnerability.
- Offer payment assistance alternatives.
- Work within the support programs available.
- Operate billing software and Microsoft suite programs.
- Prepare and issue debt recovery correspondence.
- Maintain confidentiality and customer privacy in respect to all matters.

Key selection criteria
To be in consideration for this position please address in your application how you meet the following key selection criteria:
1. Excellent communication both on the telephone, face-to-face and written.
2. Ability to multitask and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
3. Understanding of financial impacts vulnerable customers may experience.
4. Experience with billing software and the Microsoft Suite programs.
5. Relevant experience in a customer service-oriented organisation and working within debt management and recovery function.
