We are hiring a Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical. This role is responsible for coordinating and completing large, complex customer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of delivery, and acting as the primary liaison between engineering teams and customers.
You will manage projects involving delivery of Ubuntu images on devices such as robots, edge gateways, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems. This is a high-profile position requiring building and maintaining relationships with team members, customers, partners/vendors (Silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs), and other departments.
Location: This role is remote in the APAC region.
Role responsibilities include:
* Managing projects through their lifecycle, ensuring goals are met
* Delivering engineering professional services
* Working with engineering on custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery
* Developing project statements of work
* Maintaining project schedules and plans
* Securing client agreement on project scope and schedule
* Ensuring projects are within scope, time, and resources
* Managing risk mitigation
* Driving technical issues to resolution
* Communicating regularly with clients and stakeholders
* Managing third-party deliverables
* Updating management on project status
* Identifying engineering requests outside existing contracts
* Advocating for Canonical technologies
* Supporting work across different time zones and hours
Candidate requirements:
* Proven project management experience in engineering services, managing software teams and field engineers
* Experience managing cross-cultural, multi-continent resources, preferably in Asia, Europe, and the Americas
* Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math preferred
* Knowledge of Linux, open source community, and computer architecture
* Excellent English communication skills
* Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with experience building partnerships
* PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 certification preferred
* Ability to work non-standard hours and travel up to 4 times a year
