The role
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and student‐focused Learning Facilitator to support the development of final‐year nutrition students within a clinical education environment. This role combines clinical supervision, student mentoring, and subject facilitation responsibilities to help students transition from academic learning into confident, evidence‐informed clinical practice.
Responsibilities
- Manage small or large, blended, hybrid, or online classes and monitor participation.
- Plan and review teaching materials, recommending updates as required by organisational policy and procedures.
- Use current subject outlines and teaching resources (lesson plans, slides, videos, handouts, study guides, interactive PDFs, portal content, journal articles, etc.) to support learning.
- Draft, review, and update assessment tools; set and mark examination papers when appropriate.
- Conduct student assessment, maintain academic integrity, and meet regulatory standards.
- Maintain evidence of professional development to keep industry expertise current in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute actively to the institution's scholarship profile.
- Collaborate with and embed Torrens Global Education (TGE) learning support teams within the student environment.
- Use learning management system tools to monitor student engagement and improve learning outcomes.
- Attend operational and academic meetings as required.
- Collaborate with academic staff to influence group approaches to pedagogy and identify best practice.
- Develop, write, and submit relevant subject materials in line with briefs and templates supplied.
- Engage in research, scholarship, and community activities that enhance the institution and align with the discipline and strategic plan.
- Support activities that boost academic engagement and benefit students, such as recruitment and retention of students.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Significant knowledge of health sciences and nutritional therapeutic subject areas with a broad disciplinary background.
- Experience in education, training, and assessment.
- Master's qualification in Nutrition or related field and undergraduate clinical training.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical practice as a Clinical Nutritionist or related field.
- Allied Health Professional Association membership required; coaching and mentoring experience desired.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and commit to continuous professional development.
- Computer literacy in discipline‐specific and learning technologies as required.
- High service ethos, strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of pedagogical and/or adult learning principles relevant to the student cohort.
- Sound understanding of current scholarship and professional practice in the discipline.
- Knowledge of the National Code 2018 & ESOS and application of associated legislation.
Location & Working Conditions
Permanent, full‐time role based at the Surry Hills Campus, Sydney. Hybrid working arrangements: 2‐3 days on campus and 2 days work‐from‐home.
