Townsville Private Clinic is a modern 73 bed voluntary private mental health service. We proudly deliver quality integrated private healthcare services to Townsville and the wider North Queensland community.

About You

An exciting opportunity exists for an Allied Health Manager or a Program Manager at the Townsville Private Clinic. This position will manage the operational delivery of clinical services delivered by the multi-disciplinary clinical team within Allied Health Department. You will be required to apply well-developed clinical knowledge and skills to contribute to the strategic direction of this team and provide authoritative advice to stakeholders.

You will be an experienced and registered allied health professional and/or experience as a team leader with strong clinical background and people leadership skills, as well as a passion for making a positive impact, both within the teams that you lead as well as for the patients that we see. You’ll have an innovative approach along with commercial acumen which will drive program and service development and therefore hospital performance. You’ll be familiar with Private Health Insurance, DVA, Workcover, and Medicare requirements related to allied health care, are hands on when it comes to allied health rostering and recruitment activities, have excellent organisational skills, and can effectively communicate with medical and nursing staff regarding patient management with ease.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide leadership and direction in partnership with the VMO Psychiatrist to clinicians within a multidisciplinary team framework.
- Responsible for the facilitation and provision of safe, quality and cost-effective mental health care and discipline specific care, consistent with contemporary standards, policies and best practice within the mental health service setting.
- Manage the operational delivery of clinical services for this multi-disciplinary clinical team within the Townsville Private Clinic. You will also apply well-developed clinical knowledge and skills to contribute to the strategic direction of this team and provide authoritative advice to stakeholders.
- Provide high-level clinical support and advice to staff within the multidisciplinary team (MDT) with the management and problem solving regarding clinically complex patients.
- Lead and manage staff by fostering and committing to consumer safety and quality in the delivery of health care by maintaining and evaluating safety and quality practices and initiatives
- Develop and implement tailored allied health programs that meet the unique needs of our patients in mental health settings
- Manage budgets, resources, and KPI metrics to optimise efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery and department performance.
- Represent Mental Health and Specialised Services (MHSS) at internal and interagency forums and build collaborative partnerships with health and other sector providers including government and non-government agencies or General Practice

Our ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

- Mandatory possession of degree qualifications in Allied Health (Psychology, Speech and Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy) or Human Services, Social Work or Behaviour Sciences or Nursing or Dietetics.
- While not mandatory, relevant post graduate qualifications will be well regarded.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in management or leadership role
- Knowledge of Mental Health services
- Ability to develop and implement business plans with KPI monitoring
- Ability to manage rosters and human resourcing for Allied Health Department
- Ability to liaise with medical and nursing staff regarding patient management
- Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work cooperatively and positively influence work teams
- Familiar with Private Health Insurance, DVA, Workcover, Third-party and Medicare requirements related to allied health care.
- Comprehensive computer literacy; Microsoft package, Hospital Patient Management Systems

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Aurora Healthcare Health Professionals Support Services (HPSS) Enterprise Agreement
