Are you an experienced data professional seeking an opportunity to support Australia's international interests through cutting-edge business intelligence and data platforms?
Resolve Recruit is partnering with a leading Commonwealth government department to find a highly skilled Data & Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer.
Our client is at the forefront of Australia's international engagement, supporting diplomatic missions worldwide through world-class technology platforms and data capabilities. This role offers the chance to contribute to critical data infrastructure that supports Australia's foreign policy objectives and international operations. You will play a pivotal role in modernising data warehouse and business intelligence platforms, migrating from on-premises systems to cutting-edge cloud technologies.
As a Data & BI Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and optimising enterprise reporting environments whilst leading the transformation to a modern cloud-based data processing platform. You will work closely with stakeholders across the Department to ensure effective implementation of data solutions whilst contributing to platform migration and process improvements. Additionally, you will provide technical expertise and documentation to support both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and optimise SSAS/SSIS/SSRS reporting environments to support departmental operations
* Lead participation in upgrading on-premises data warehouse to cloud-based MS Fabric platform
* Develop and maintain data load processes across diverse data sources and formats
* Produce comprehensive technical documentation for both technical and business audiences
* Adhere to enterprise standards and best practice frameworks for BI solution development
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and analyse complex data sets in business-critical environments
Key Experience and Skills:
* 7+ years demonstrated experience in similar data engineering and business intelligence roles
* Proven expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, or Data Factory for cloud data platform development
* Strong SQL/T-SQL programming skills with experience across diverse data architectures
* Experience with multiple data sources including REST APIs, Excel, JSON, Parquet, and Delta formats
* Demonstrated capability in data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse architectures
* Well-developed technical writing skills with experience maintaining documentation for non-technical audiences
