This is a Management Accountant role with NSW Health based in East Maitland, NSW, AU NSW Health Role Seniority - mid level More about the Management Accountant role at NSW Health 544427 - Management Accountant Finance Department Calvary Mater Newcastle Hospital Permanent Full-Time The Management Accountant is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive management accounting services for Calvary Mater Newcastle (CMN), supporting the effective and efficient provision of high-quality health care services in line with the Hospital’s operational and strategic plans. The role is accountable for end-of-month and end-of-year financial processes, including reconciliations, reporting, financial modelling, budget management and business planning. Working closely with the Financial Controller, the position contributes to the provision of high-quality financial and management accounting services that support sound governance, informed decision-making and the ongoing financial sustainability of Calvary Mater Newcastle. Your Main Duties Will Include Work in close partnership with the Financial Controller to lead the preparation, analysis and presentation of accurate and timely management and financial reports, including budgets, forecasts and performance reports, ensuring they provide a reliable basis for executive and operational decision-making in a complex healthcare environment. Provide high-level financial and commercial advice to managers and clinicians by interpreting financial and operational data, developing financial models and scenario analyses, and clearly articulating the financial implications, risks and consequences of business decisions. Design, maintain and continuously improve financial reporting and business intelligence systems, using advanced Excel, Power BI and integrated financial and payroll systems to ensure data integrity, transparency, and effective performance monitoring aligned with Calvary’s governance and strategic objectives. About You A formal accounting qualification in the form of a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from a recognised tertiary institution, or a Bachelor degree in other disciplines (such as Economics, Health, Commerce, etc.), together with substantial and relevant experience in financial and/or management accounting. Demonstrated experience in preparing, analysing and presenting high-quality management and financial reports that accurately reflect organisational performance and support both executive and operational decision-making. Proven ability to interpret financial and operational data to provide sound advice on the financial implications of business decisions, including the development of financial models, scenario analysis and performance reporting. Advanced proficiency in PowerBI or similar, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Excel, including the use of complex formulas, financial models, pivot tables, Power Query and data validation, with the ability to import, transform and analyse large volumes of transactional data to produce accurate and meaningful financial insights. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders and influence effective decision-making. Desirable Criteria Previous experience in the Health Care industry. Demonstrated understanding of healthcare financial environments, including clinical costing, casemix, activity-based funding and compliance reporting requirements, or the ability to rapidly acquire and apply this knowledge.
