**About the Role**
The Lecturer position with the Indigenous Law and Justice Hub (‘The Hub’) at the Melbourne Law School (MLS) will assist in developing teaching, research and engagement projects under the guidance of the Hub’s Director and Advisory Council. The Lecturer will be expected to contribute to the work of MLS through Indigenous Law and Justice Hub projects in teaching and learning, research, and leadership and service. The projects are aligned with the Hub’s overarching agenda of bringing together legal experts and community leaders to produce innovative, rigorous legal research that can be directly applied in Indigenous advocacy and self-governance, and create teaching and engagement opportunities that seek that shift the legal profession towards decolonial futures.

Your responsibilities will also include:

- Conulting with Indigenous and other students regarding study, research and other issues

**Who We Are Looking For**
You should possess a robust academic record and demonstrate high-level academic research and writing skills, particularly in the realm of Indigenous legal issues. Your expertise should extend to a highly developed understanding and experience of the political and historical events faced by Indigenous Peoples since colonization. Additionally, you must exhibit highly developed written and oral communication skills, effectively engaging with Indigenous peoples and communities, as well as various stakeholders, using diverse social media and communication methods. Demonstrated computer proficiency, including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and database management, is also essential.

You will also have:

- An appropriate degree in law or relevant field, with a specialisation in Indigenous legal issues, regulation or law or a related field
- Excellent time management skills and organisational skills including the ability to coordinate a number of tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Experience of working independently, but also being a productive and flexible team member who from time to time may need to assist the Director of the Indigenous Law and Justice Hub and other members of the team

- This position requires the incumbent to hold a current and _valid Working with Children Check_ to ensure the University provides a safe environment for everyone._

**The Indigenous Law and Justice Hub (The Hub)**

The Hub is a Law School research institute that brings together legal experts and community leaders to produce rigorous legal research that can be directly applied in Indigenous advocacy and self-governance. They are educators who play a central role in developing law students’ understandings of Indigenous cultures, legal systems, and Indigenous experiences of settler law. Their research focuses on two areas of law and policy that are of pressing importance for Indigenous peoples: Criminal In/justice and Treaty. The Hub team aims to support and amplify Indigenous voices in these fields with high quality legal research and improved community access to research and advice.
