Offer description

Are you a hospital pharmacy intern looking to secure your first hospital role, OR a hospital-trained pharmacist ready to accelerate your clinical career?

Hospital pharmacy roles in metropolitan centres are extremely limited - this opportunity provides a direct pathway into hospital practice while building the clinical experience that accelerates progression through the profession.

NT Health is recruiting Clinical Pharmacists to join hospital pharmacy teams across the Northern Territory. This opportunity provides a structured pathway into hospital pharmacy, allowing pharmacists to transition into a clinical hospital role and gain valuable experience within a supportive multidisciplinary environment and fastrack their career as a hospital pharmacist.

Contracts are available for 6–12 months, with the opportunity to extend, transition into ongoing employment or simply carry your experience back to a metro setting depending on your career goals.

Relocation incentives and travel support are provided.

Hospital pharmacy interns from 2025 and 2026 are strongly encouraged to apply.

Hospital Interns – Read This

Many pharmacists complete their hospital internship but are unable to secure ongoing hospital roles within their training sites due to limited metropolitan vacancies. This opportunity allows hospital interns to step directly into a Clinical Pharmacist role following internship, providing a clear pathway to continue building your hospital pharmacy career while gaining meaningful clinical experience. Intern pharmacists transitioning into these roles will be appointed at the Clinical Pharmacist Grade 2, enabling immediate progression from internship into hospital practice.

Why This Opportunity Is Valuable

Hospital pharmacy roles in major metropolitan centres are highly competitive. Regional hospital experience is highly regarded and opens doors to advanced clinical roles later in your career. Working within Northern Territory hospitals provides pharmacists with meaningful clinical exposure, accelerated professional development and strong multidisciplinary support, making it one of the fastest ways to build a strong hospital clinical portfolio.

What You Will Gain From This Role

Working within NT Health hospitals provides clinical exposure rarely available early in a pharmacist's career. You will gain:

* Direct entry into hospital pharmacy practice and meaningful clinical responsibility
* Exposure to complex clinical presentations including chronic disease, renal care, tropical medicine and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
* Broader clinical responsibility within multidisciplinary hospital teams
* Active involvement in antimicrobial stewardship and infectious disease management due to diverse patient presentations
* Accelerated professional development compared with traditional metropolitan career pathways
* Opportunity to build a strong hospital clinical portfolio early in your career
* Experience across multiple NT hospital settings where operationally appropriate
* Many pharmacists who gain regional hospital experience go on to pursue careers in specialist clinical pharmacy, pharmacy leadership, clinical trials, pharmaceutical industry roles and government health system improvement projects - reach out to our team for more information!
