Help shape early literacy futures across our community by delivering engaging, inclusive and impactful programs for Cairns families. As the First 5 Forever Project Officer, you'll play a key role in implementing library program strategies, building partnerships, and supporting the growth of early literacy initiatives across Cairns.
What we're looking for
We're seeking a passionate, community‐minded professional with a background in Early Childhood or equivalent experience, who is confident developing and delivering programs that build early literacy and learning outcomes. You'll bring strong organisational and analytical skills, the ability to juggle a varied workload and experience administering grants, budgets and project timelines. Equally important is your ability to communicate effectively, build relationships with diverse stakeholders and produce high‐quality written content, from proposals and reports to marketing and program collateral. You thrive in collaborative environments, can work independently when needed, and are committed to delivering inclusive, creative and impactful services for children and families across Cairns. A Blue Card, valid driver's licence and experience with grant submissions are essential. Experience in a public library setting or project management is desirable.
What you'll be doing
* Coordinating and delivering First 5 Forever early literacy programs across libraries and community settings.
* Administering the First 5 Forever grant and managing the associated annual budget.
* Developing partnerships and conducting outreach and information sessions for families, community partners and stakeholders.
* Creating marketing materials, online content and communications in collaboration with Council's Strategic Communications & Engagement unit.
* Maintaining and updating First 5 Forever digital platforms in line with Council guidelines.
* Preparing reports, statistics, funding acquittals and grant applications.
* Providing program insights and advice to library leadership and stakeholders.
* Supporting strategic planning, program development and broader Cairns Libraries initiatives.
* Assisting with routine administrative tasks and ensuring accurate recordkeeping.
