Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital 
We are currently seeking applications from suitably qualified Registered Nurses to join our highly skilled and multi-disciplinary Cardiac Care Unit whilst undertaking a Post Graduate Certificate in Speciality Nursing (Cardiac Care) commencing February 2026. 
St John of God Geelong Hospital partners with Deakin University to provide flexible learning for post-graduate studies in a supportive environment. 
Our Cardiac Care Unit offers extensive medical and surgical cardiac services to a varied patient group. Specializing in elective procedures, its Cath lab focuses on coronary diagnostics and interventions, electrophysiology studies, and device implantations. 
The Position 
Provides direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures and Care Paths. Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions. Maintains and promotes harmonious interpersonal relationships and effective teamwork, between staff, patient, relative, doctors and ancillary staff. Assists and collaborates with team members in the assessment of allocated patients. Ensures accurate and timely documentation. Communicates effectively with all members of care team and reports changes in patients’ status to appropriate personnel. Initiates discharge planning on patients’ admission to ensure appropriate use of all resources and the patient/family are well prepared for discharge. Documents any incidents and reports these to NUM/ANUM. 
You will hold registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
