The Role
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to be part of the Revenue and Payables team within the Corporate Solutions department. You will take a leadership role in the Payables team as the Senior Accounts Payables Officer, driving processes and the success of the team to ensure that creditors are paid accurately and promptly in accordance with the conditions of trade or terms of engagement. You'll also assist with customer enquiries and ensure timely, professional support to both internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
* Providing mentorship and support to the Accounts Payable Officer.
* Prepare invoices for scanning and processing in compliance with GST rulings.
* Verify and certify invoices for payment with correct cost coding and authorisations.
* Support authorising Officers within Council to meet the requirements of authorising invoices and other documentation relating to accounts payable process.
* Certify Purchasing Card transactions and process into the Corporate Finance System.
* Maintain and update the creditor master file in the Corporate Finance System.
* Generate payments and remittance advices as required.
* Resolve escalated supplier queries complaints.
* Follow up on overdue accounts.
Skill & Competencies
* Experience in supervising and mentoring team members
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounts payable within a computerised environment with limited supervision.
* Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and experience of GST legislation relating to Accounts Payable function.
* Abilty to resolve complex accounts payable issues
* Ability to communicate courteously, clearly and concisely with customers (both internal and external) at all times, and handle escalated complaints.
* Ability to learn and adapt to new software systems and processes.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
* High level of accuracy and numeracy when working with financial data.Ability to exercise initiative to develop and apply new work procedures where appropriate.
* High standards of work and a results-focused approach.
* Ability to think logically and demonstrate common sense.
