ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this Senior Group Financial Accountant role has been created to support a growing, multi-entity organisation and act as a 2IC within the finance function.
The role is technically focused and will take ownership of group accounting, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and month-end processes across a complex structure. You will provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members while driving process improvement and helping evolve systems and controls as the business continues to scale.
This position will suit a technically strong accountant who enjoys ownership, problem-solving, and working closely with both finance and commercial stakeholders.
DUTIES
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review group and consolidated financial statements
Manage balance sheet integrity and complex reconciliations
Oversee statutory reporting and liaise with external auditors
Support group tax compliance including BAS, FBT, and income tax (with external advisors)
Prepare tax-effect accounting entries across multiple entities
Support reporting for non-group and related entities
Drive process improvement, system enhancements, and control uplift
Partner with the commercial team to provide financial insight
Mentor and guide finance team members (no direct line management)
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
CA or CPA qualified
Strong technical accounting background (statutory reporting, audit, tax-effect accounting)
Experience in multi-entity or group environments
Intermediate Excel skills (essential)
Exposure to property or construction environments preferred (but not essential)
Background from Big 4 or mid-tier firms at Assistant Manager to Manager level highly regarded
Systems-focused mindset with experience improving processes and workflows
Confident communicator with strong emotional intelligence and stakeholder management skills
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with strong personalities
