The Role
MQ Health is seeking a motivated and pro-active Assistant in Nursing (AIN) to work closely with staff in our theatres at Macquarie University Hospital. We have a dynamic team in a growing unit and an opportunity to take part in the great work that we do supporting the delivery of best outcomes for our patients. Previous experience is desirable; however, teaching and training opportunities are available for staff with the right attitude and aptitude.
The Assistant in Nursing provides a quality standard of nursing care to the patients in collaboration with the Registered Nurse together with clinicians and support services staff. You have good communication and collaboration skills, hardworking, and possesses a can-do attitude in undertaking duties required of an AIN role. Your role is key in providing care and comfort for patients.
Key Accountabilities include (but not limited to)
- Implements those aspects of the nursing care plan as delegated by the Registered Nurse
- Demonstrates a satisfactory knowledge base for safe practice and informs the Registered Nurse of any change in the patient's condition in carrying out duties
- Maintains good customer relations in a way that acknowledges dignity, culture, values, beliefs and the rights of individuals and groups.
- Ensures that all documentation is accurate and completed in a professional and timely manner
- Complies with policies and procedures relevant to this position to ensure the effective and safe operation of the hospital and the welfare and interests of all employees.

To Apply
To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your resume and a 1-page cover letter:
- Relevant experience within the private health sector
- Demonstrated sound verbal and written communication skills and ability to build rapport and empathise with patients
- Demonstrated commitment to high level of customer service always delivered in a professional manner
- Good knowledge of basic nursing care including performing and recording full set of clinical observations, performing ECGs, assisting patients with personal hygiene requirements.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Commitment to uphold and be a steward of the Mission, Vision and Values of MQ
