Run a small, high-performing, hands-on service/engineering team: workforce planning, job allocation and scheduling, skills development, performance reviews, recruitment, and technical standards/compliance (including OH&S;).
Operational rhythm.Weekly: approve technician timesheets, review productivity and repair backlog, and host the service stand-up to transparent blockers and optimise the schedule.Daily: review forward work plans (48-hour horizon), authorise overtime, coordinate after-hours callouts.Customer outcomes.
Own customer liaison across service and installation works, confirm scope/schedule, manage approvals/POs, and ensure satisfaction at job completion; resolve billing queries and mediate quality/cost disputes when required.
Commercial stewardship.
Grow service labour revenue, quote small installations alongside engineering, shape/support agreements (SLAs/response times), and track the service budget.
Process & compliance.
Ensure accurate service dockets, stock movements, clean and audit-ready vehicles/work areas, and current programming records; maintain strong supplier relationships.
Sales integration.
Partner with account managers and system engineers to scope/price delivery and hand over projects to support, keeping a tight feedback loop on field learnings.The Engineering WorkCoverage, design & licensing: conduct radio coverage tests, site surveys, frequency planning, and support ACMA licensing so customers get clear, interference-free comms.Build & integrate: install and commission repeaters/base stations, microwave backhaul (e.g., Cambium), RoIP gateways, BDAs, dispatch consoles, and handheld/mobile fleets—programmed with GPS, lone-worker/man-down, and emergency alert features.Secure & resilient operations: configure encryption and private-licensed channels; design for redundancy (master/slave nodes; overlapping coverage) and off-grid, solar-powered sites where needed.Lifecycle support: preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, firmware updates, and on-site training to embed best-practice use.Tech & Tools You\ll EncounterTETRA (DAMM/Sepura), digital two-way radio platforms and base stations, licensed UHF/VHF, microwave links (Cambium PMP/PTP), RoIP, dispatch systems, encryption, GPS/location services, and push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) where appropriate.What You\ll BringLeadership of field service or delivery teams in RF/telecoms or adjacent infrastructure.Strong scheduling, triage, and stakeholder skills across simultaneous customer jobs.A pragmatic, safety-first mindset and familiarity with regulated environments.Comfort collaborating with sales, suppliers, and customers to shape fit-for-purpose solutions (not one-size-fits-all).
