About the Role A leading supplier of large-scale industrial CNC sheet metal systems to major Australian manufacturers is expanding its Service & Support Department. With suppliers based in Italy, Finland, and China, the organisation delivers high-level technical support, installation, and maintenance services across Australia.
They are now seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Service Technician to join their Melbourne team.
Position Overview The Electrical Service Technician will provide technical service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer support for advanced CNC sheetmetal machinery. This position requires a minimum of 8 years' industrial electrical experience, strong mechanical understanding, and the ability to work autonomously in customer environments.
The role is not suitable for junior or early-career technicians.
Key Responsibilities
* Service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair CNC sheet metal machinery and other industrial equipment.
* Interpret complex industrial electrical drawings and schematics.
* Diagnose faults on high-voltage (415V) and low-voltage electrical control systems.
* Apply mechanical aptitude to understand machine movement, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, and general industrial machine operations.
* Support installation and commissioning of new machinery.
* Provide professional and timely communication with customers regarding technical issues.
* Work independently on customer sites, managing diagnostics, documentation, and follow-up actions.
* Travel interstate at short notice for urgent service requests or commissioning.
* Participate in ongoing training, including potential overseas factory training in Italy, Finland, and China.
Skills & Experience Required Essential
* Minimum 8 years of industrial electrical experience in a service, maintenance, or machinery environment.
* Extensive experience with 415V 3-phase systems and low-voltage controls.
* Proven ability to interpret and work from detailed electrical schematics.
* Strong mechanical understanding of industrial machinery.
* Advanced troubleshooting and autonomous fault-finding capabilities.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a small, collaborative team.
* Ability to travel interstate at short notice.
* Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office, and general technical software.
Highly Advantageous
* Experience with CNC machinery, industrial automation, robotics, or manufacturing equipment.
* Previous exposure to international suppliers or factory-based training.
* Experience within small technical service teams.
