**About the Role**
This position plans, performs and facilitates clinical and technical support to the Anaesthetist during the induction maintenance and emergence of anaesthetic. The successful applicant also assists with resuscitation of the patient in emergencies and records observations of patients when directed.
This role reports to the Senior Anaesthetic Technician.

Competitive Salary paying between $78,000 - 94,000 per annum inclusive of super depending on experience and qualifications
Responsibilities include
- Provide technical and clinical support to the Anaesthetist during induction, maintenance and the emergence from anaesthesia and assist with resuscitation of the patient in emergencies.
- Identify and provide anaesthetic and ancillary equipment for the safe administration of anaesthesia and dispose and restock equipment.
- Ensure the provision and availability of all drugs and IV fluids during anaesthesia.
- Participate in patient care with transferring and positioning the patient.
- Communicate with and reassure the patient.
- Set up and operate diagnostic equipment and participate in equipment evaluation. Checks and calibrates equipment.
- Set up and operate new or advanced equipment where required.
- Retrieve, identify and dispense blood products and specimens.
- Decontaminate and store equipment and ensure anaesthetic areas are clean and restocked.
- Identify patient monitoring and hardware needs and prepare, test and calibrate equipment.
- Assist, monitor and record patient observations, using the Adult Observation and Response chart as directed by Managers, Floor Coordinators.
- Responsible for the handling of controlled substances as per hospital and department policy.
- Provide cell salvage service where suitably qualified.
- Participates in a 24/7 roster including night duty and an after hour on-call roster.
**About You**
- Qualification required - **_Anaesthetic Technology Diploma, Associate Diploma of Health (Anaesthetic and Operating Theatre Technicians) or Certificate IV Medical_** **_Technicians or equivalent_**:
- Anaeshetics Technician or Operating Department Practitioner experience within Theatres - demonstrated ability to set up and calibrate anaeshetic equipment and monitoring equipment used in Anaesthesia
