This includes support to the Water and Wastewater team as well as other departments within AlburyCity. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Chemical and microbiological analysis of water and wastewater samples Collection of samples including, when required, preservation and pre-treatment Perform all work according to the laboratory quality system and to it maintains NATA ISO 17025 accreditation Data entry and reporting of results Equipment and instrument validation, calibration, and maintenance Ordering of laboratory consumables and maintaining the laboratory fit for purpose Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Coordinator which are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence, and training Research strategies and strive to continuously improve the operation of the laboratory Liaise with internal and external customers as required on operational issues Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent work experience Class C (standard) Driver’s Licence (compulsory to have and maintain) DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Experience in water testing and environment will be highly regarded Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry / Environmental Science or related discipline EXPERIENCE: Relevant experience in a similar role at a NATA accredited laboratory SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Demonstrated experience and understanding in; Chemical analysis Water and wastewater sampling and analysis including BOD, COD, solids and nutrients. NATA ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation Maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory and analytical instruments. Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) Interpretation of results, reporting and recording High level of computer literacy in the use of a variety of software applications including MS Office Suite Sound knowledge in environmental or water and wastewater processes
