This permanent full-time role involves working as a Medical Receptionist/Secretary in a busy, well respected specialist medical practice for father and son Orthopaedic Surgeons who specialise in Upper Limb Surgery. You will work closely with another experienced Medical Receptionist in a warm, friendly and cooperative setting. We are located in the Medical precinct of Ipswich.
If successful, you will be our welcoming, caring and efficient point of contact for our patients, the hospitals and other medical service providers and co-ordinate closely with the surgeon to continue our tradition of providing high quality patient care.
Your key duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Providing excellent patient service
- Triaging patient enquiries
- Organising appointment books and time management
- Greeting patients, organising follow up appointments
- Telephone enquiries and patient interactions
- Booking procedures- liaising with hospitals and anaesthetists
- Administrative tasks (including receipting, billing, typing and scanning)
- Utilising practice management software (Our practice uses Stat Health)

- Ability to remain calm and polite under pressure in an often very fast-paced environment whilst managing various responsibilities and deadlines
- Strong commitment to punctuality and reliability
- The ability to be flexible and adaptable
- Willingness to learn the practice procedures and follow directions
- Clear and friendly telephone skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills (both written and verbal communication)
- Care and empathy for patients
- Ability to work harmoniously in a cooperative team environment
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with a strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent proficiency using computers
- Experience in medical administration and reception are essential. Experience in a Medical Specialist Practice, especially a specialist Orthopaedic Surgery practice, will be highly valued.
Hours are:
Monday- Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm, with a 9 day fortnight.
This is a permanent full time position, however applicants who prefer a flexible working arrangement will be considered.
