Navantia Australia has been awarded the Designer Support Contract to provide comprehensive design and engineering support to all Navantia-designed ships in service with the Royal Australian Navy. This landmark contract marks a significant milestone for Navantia Australia, as it is the company's first contract held directly with the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA), underscoring its commitment to innovation and excellence in the maritime industry.
Operating under the Design Support Contract (DSC), we have an exciting opportunity for a Subcontractor Manager to join the team at the Darling Park, Sydney Office. In the role, you will be responsible for managing subcontractor relationships within the DSC program. This role involves overseeing the selection, negotiation, and management of subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met. The Subcontractor Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
Your responsibilities will include:
Collaborate with the Project Engineering Managers and with the Supply Chain team to lead the preparation and issue of work packages to subcontractors in accordance with the project schedule and project requirements.
Review proposals from subcontractors regarding scope and time frame for completing projects and support Supply Chain in price review.
Support with negotiations, clarifications and selection of subcontractor engagement based on qualifications, risk and Value for Money assessment.
Undertake day-to-day administration of all subcontracts including GFA's and bespoke contract arrangements.
Ensure all obligations regarding the management of IP are understood and correctly applied throughout the life of the contracts with subcontractors.
Liaise with the Legal and/or Commercial Manager of the different Programs to ensure the requirements of the Program ´s Contracts requirements with respect to subcontracts are understood and correctly applied.
Engage and communicate efficiently with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Review and monitor subcontractors' availability and performance, identify risk areas prior to engagement.
Manage all activities relating to subcontractor purchase orders including issue, approvals, receipting and closure.
Ensure information or material subject to regulation and control by third party countries (ITAR or other equivalent regulations) is managed and administered IAW the different programs contracts and the relevant agreements.
Manage correspondence from the subcontractors and prepare appropriate responses ensuring all correspondence is delivered in a timely manner.
Ensure NDA's, insurances and other subcontract requirements are in place and current.
Ensure Material and Approved Subcontractors comply with reporting requirements, particularly the quarterly Contract Status Report (CSR). Prepare monthly and quarterly CSSR and CSR updates regarding subcontractor activities as required.
Maintain the integrity of subcontract information (including version control of the subcontract documents) and coordinate all aspects of the subcontract administration process, in accordance with approved plans and procedures, to meet contractual requirements and organisational needs.
Provide advice on terms and conditions of the subcontracts to support informed decision making and improve outcomes.
Support the growth of the Navantia Australia Technical Support Network.
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
Demonstrated experience in the subcontract management area.
Minimum 5 years' experience in major projects or programs developing and administering subcontracts.
Excellent subcontract administration skills conversant with engineering and supply support processes.
Very strong ethical and interpersonal skills to ensure that maintenance subcontractors are administered effectively, and strong relationships built with the subcontractors.
Knowledge of the ASDEFCON framework in the Naval Sector highly regarded.
Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated experience with standard office software (MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Outlook etc.)
Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and with clients and stakeholders.
