About this Position
An opportunity is available for a Leading Hand to step into a key hands‐on role on an industrial HV construction project. Working closely with the Site Supervisor, you'll lead crews on the tools, coordinate daily works, and keep the job moving safely and efficiently. This is a practical leadership role for someone who knows high voltage electrical work, takes pride in doing things right, and sets the standard for safety, quality and teamwork on site while staying compliant with South Australian regulations.
Team Leadership & Coordination
* Lead and mentor a small team of tradespeople and labourers on site.
* Allocate daily tasks and monitor progress against the work plan.
* Provide on‐job guidance and ensure work is completed to required standards.
High Voltage (HV) Works Execution
* Perform and assist with installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of HV systems.
* Support HV switching, isolations, and access procedures under authorised personnel.
* Ensure all HV works comply with relevant standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, SA Power Networks requirements).
Work Health & Safety (WHS)
* Promote and maintain a strong safety culture within the team.
* Participate in pre‐start meetings, toolbox talks, safe work method statements (SWMS), and risk assessments.
* Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with WHS legislation (South Australia).
Quality & Workmanship
* Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and procedures.
* Conduct basic quality checks and assist with inspections.
* Identify defects and ensure rectification.
Communication & Reporting
* Report progress, issues, and resource needs to the Site Supervisor.
* Coordinate with other trades and subcontractors to avoid conflicts.
Tools, Equipment & Materials
* Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and used safely.
* Monitor and manage materials on site to minimise waste.
* Assist with deliveries and storage of HV equipment and components.
How you can support CoMade
* Electrical Trade Qualification (essential).
* Current South Australian Electrical License (or ability to obtain).
* White Card (Construction Induction).
* High Voltage awareness or switching certification (desirable).
* Minimum 3‐7 years' experience in industrial construction or electrical projects.
* Demonstrated experience working on HV systems (e.g., substations, renewables, heavy industry).
* Previous experience in a Leading Hand or similar role.
