About The Role
As the Emergency Relief Assessor, you will support community members experiencing hardship by assessing their needs and providing appropriate financial assistance (emergency relief) and referrals. You will play a key role in ensuring people are heard, respected, and connected with the right supports at the right time. This permanent, part-time position (46 hours per fortnight) is based at 88 Hartley Street, Alice Springs, NT. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, Level 3.
How You Will Make An Impact
* Determine appropriate assistance, including financial support and other practical responses.
* Provide referrals and advocacy to internal and external support services to help community members access ongoing support.
* Build respectful, empowering relationships that encourage self-determination and participation.
* Maintain effective communication with team members, Corps, and other stakeholders.
* Contribute to safe and best‑practice service delivery, ensuring compliance with TSA policies and procedures.
* Support local mission delivery by working collaboratively with Corps and Doorways teams.
What You Will Bring
* Experience working in the community services sector.
* Experience engaging with people from diverse cultural backgrounds in a sensitive and inclusive manner.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with people in crisis.
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, manage competing priorities, and show initiative.
* Confidence using PC applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Understanding of work health and safety obligations and commitment to safe work practices.
* A self‑motivated, resilient, and service‑oriented approach aligned with TSA values.
