About the Opportunity:
John Paul College is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to take on the role of Head of Catering Operations.
This exciting opportunity will see you lead the College's catering services, ensuring the delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals to students, staff, and guests across the school, boarding facilities, and special events.
You'll be instrumental in shaping a culture of excellence in food safety, customer service, and operational performance.
About the Role
The Head of Catering Operations oversees all catering functions within the College, including daily meal service, tuckshop operations, special events, and boarding house catering.
You will be responsible for staff leadership, budget and procurement management, and ensuring compliance with all food safety and hygiene standards.
This is a pivotal senior leadership role reporting to the Director of Business Operations and working closely with key stakeholders across the College.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and mentoring the catering team, including chefs, cooks, and tuckshop staff.
- Overseeing daily operations, rostering, recruitment, performance reviews, and staff development.
- Managing catering budgets, procurement, stock control, and supplier relationships.
- Planning nutritious and appealing menus that cater to dietary, cultural, and seasonal needs.
- Ensuring full compliance with WHS and food safety regulations.
- Supporting College functions and events with tailored catering services.
- Promoting sustainable practices across all catering operations.
- Ensuring quality control, efficiency, and customer satisfaction in all food service areas.
This role is full-time, working 52 weeks per year, with four weeks of annual leave.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven senior experience in catering or hospitality management, preferably within an educational or institutional setting.
- Food Safety Supervisor certification and strong understanding of HACCP and Australian food safety regulations.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage, inspire, and develop a diverse team.
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets, supplier negotiations, and inventory.
- A strong focus on customer service, quality, and innovation in food services.
- High-level communication and organisational skills.
- A passion for delivering healthy, balanced meals that support student wellbeing.
- The ability to work collaboratively with College leadership and stakeholders.
