Overview
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant for our Cancer Services you will coordinate a comprehensive care program for patients with cancer with a multidisciplinary approach to streamline and integrate care for patients across the continuum in the hospital, outpatient and home setting.
You will provide clinical leadership and clinical consultancy within cancer services whilst providing quality patient care and patient experience across cancer services.
Our dedicated cancer ward, Thomas Furlong, day Cancer Centre and GenesisCare radiation oncology facility bring together clinicians from a wide range of areas for cancer treatment, including oncology, haematology and palliative care on site.

Specialist nurses in breast care, palliative care and oncology
The Position
Coordinate patient-centred care planning with the patient, family, carer and multidisciplinary team facilitating efficient use of resources.
Provide advanced patient care problem solving and guidance within cancer services to educate and support nursing caregivers in their clinical decision-making.
Manage and facilitate the interface of internal and external support agencies in the delivery of care.
Provide clinical leadership through clinical consultancy, collegial support, guidance and direction.
Develop, implement and evaluate relevant clinical standards and policies using an evidence-based approach.
Initiate and implement research-based nursing practice in areas of clinical specialty.
Develop and implement a system to monitor, review and evaluate cancer services across all cancer streams.
Provide clinical information and relevant education to patients, their families and carers.
Develop education and information resources for these groups and arrange specialised education as required.
Work collaboratively to establish enduring relationships with local cancer and other related services external to SJGHC.
Develops new and strengthens existing relationships between team members and referring consultants and agencies.
Undertake a strong training and mentoring presence for clinical caregivers caring for patients.
Working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary health care environment, you will have well-developed skills in communication, including conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to educate patients and carers regarding treatment modalities, and to act as a resource and advocate for the patient.
You will have demonstrated understanding and commitment to quality improvement and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards process with the ability to undertake data collection for quality initiatives and continuous improvement.
A knowledge of relevant legislation and professional standards including Nurses Act, Code of Conduct, Occupational Safety & Health, Equal Employment Opportunities will be essential for the role.
To succeed you will hold registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse with minimum 5 years post registration experience in Oncology/Haematology.
A post registration qualification in Oncology, Hematology, Cancer Nursing will be highly regarded.

We can offer you
Salary: 132,322 per annum, plus 12% superannuation
A 12 month fixed term full-time position, working 38 hours per week
