About the role

We're looking for an experienced and hands‑on HR Operations Manager to lead the delivery of core people processes across Pivotel. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with leaders across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, this role is critical in ensuring our HR operations are compliant, consistent, and well‑executed.

You'll be responsible for the day‑to‑day operational delivery of HR services, with a strong focus on employment relations, HR compliance, payroll oversight, workforce management, performance processes, and supporting our WHS and ISO45001 obligations. This role is execution‑driven — ensuring policies, processes and frameworks are applied correctly, risks are managed early, and HR services are delivered to a high standard across the business.

This is a 12‑month contract, with the possibility of extension.


Key Responsibilities

* Providing end-to-end operational HR advice and support to executives, managers, and employees across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, workforce changes, and separation.
* Acting as the primary point of contact for employment relations matters, providing clear, pragmatic and legally sound advice on performance management, underperformance, conduct issues, grievances, disciplinary processes, investigations, terminations, and restructures.
* Partnering with executives and managers to proactively identify and manage people‑related risks, ensuring matters are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with employment legislation.
* Overseeing and managing payroll operations, working closely with Finance and payroll providers to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contractual and legislative requirements.
* Leading workforce management practices, including headcount oversight, role clarity, employment changes, and employment documentation.
* Overseeing the implementation and ongoing operation of performance management frameworks, supporting managers to set clear expectations, manage performance issues early, and complete performance review processes effectively.
* Ensuring Pivotel meets its workplace health and safety (WHS) obligations and ISO45001 certification journey, including policy compliance, incident reporting, return to work, and engagement with external WHS providers where required.
* Maintaining oversight of HR policies, procedures, templates, and employment documentation, ensuring they are current, compliant, and consistently applied across the business.
* Driving the effective use of HR and payroll systems, ensuring data integrity, system adoption, and fit‑for‑purpose processes.
* Providing accurate people data, reporting, and insights to support compliance, audits, and informed decision‑making.
* Leading and coaching the Senior HR Advisor, providing support and development to ensure high‑quality HR service delivery.
* Driving continuous improvement across HR operations by identifying inefficiencies, strengthening controls, and embedding practical, scalable people processes.


Skills & Experience

* 8–12+ years' experience in operational HR roles within the private sector.
* Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, lead with credibility, and earn trust across all levels of the business.
* Strong employment relations expertise and solid knowledge of Australian employment law and WHS obligations.
* Experience overseeing payroll and employment‑related governance.
* Proven ability to work effectively in fast‑paced, regulated or operational environments.
* Strong judgement and the ability to provide clear, defensible advice to senior leaders.
* Confidence using HR and payroll systems – we use Employment Hero.
* Experience leading small HR teams.
* Highly organised, detail‑focused, proactive and comfortable managing completing deadlines.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* AHRI accreditation or relevant HR qualifications.
