About The Role
As the Head Pastry Chef, you will have the culinary freedom to create menus and experiences that delight Park Hyatt clients. You will be responsible for maximizing guest satisfaction by providing the highest level of quality and consistency in pastry items, contributing to the success of the Events Kitchen, in line with Hyatt International Brand Standards and financial goals.
Salary: AUD$85,000 excluding superannuation
Responsibilities
* Stay updated on new trends, ingredients, and techniques in pastry and incorporate them into innovative menu items
* Supervise, train, and coach pastry team members
* Prepare bread, cakes, biscuits, desserts, and pastry items using best practices
* Ensure all pastry dishes are prepared consistently and to standard
* Train and guide culinary staff
* Assign responsibilities and periodically evaluate team performance
* Plan and manage weekly work schedules to ensure proper staffing
* Monitor kitchen operating costs and implement measures to reduce expenses
Qualifications
* Certificate III in Pastry or equivalent; Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is advantageous
* Previous supervisory experience in a hotel or similar environment with high-volume production
* Strong people management and employee development skills
* Knowledge of kitchen operations and administration
* Local Food Handling, Hygiene, HACCP certification or equivalent
* Passion for innovation and industry trends
* Attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
* Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
