An outstanding opportunity has arisen to join a high-growth environmental infrastructure and resource recovery platform as a Strategy Manager, working closely with senior leadership to support strategic planning, capital allocation decisions and M&A activity across the group.
The business operates at the forefront of the circular economy, recovering and remanufacturing primary resources while extracting maximum value from materials otherwise destined for landfill. With operations across Australia and Southeast Asia, the company processes several million tonnes of waste annually through a diversified portfolio of recycling, resource recovery and energy infrastructure assets.
As the organisation continues to scale, this newly created role will strengthen the group's strategic capability and support enterprise-wide decision making. The position will operate as a senior member of the strategy function, partnering closely with executive leadership and leading defined workstreams across strategy and commercial initiatives.
This role offers broad exposure across corporate strategy, investment decisions and operational performance in a rapidly evolving sector.
The Role
The Strategy Manager will support the Head of Strategy in delivering group-wide strategic initiatives, capital allocation decisions and M&A activity, while leading defined workstreams across strategy and commercial projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Business Planning & Strategy
• Lead strategic workstreams supporting portfolio optimisation and growth strategy
• Undertake market analysis and competitive assessment to identify industry trends, threats and opportunities
• Support components of the annual strategic planning and long-term planning processes
• Translate complex business situations into structured analytical frameworks to support executive decision-making
• Prepare high-quality materials for executive leadership and board stakeholders
• Contribute to the evolution of business reporting aligned with operational and strategic value drivers
Capital Allocation & Investment Analysis
• Lead workstreams supporting capital allocation initiatives across the business
• Develop business cases for growth opportunities including financial modelling and commercial analysis
• Prepare investment papers and option analyses for senior leadership decision making
Mergers & Acquisitions
• Support the evaluation and execution of M&A opportunities across the group
• Develop financial models and commercial assessments associated with potential transactions
• Interface with external advisors including financial, legal and technical specialists during transaction processes
Operational & Commercial Improvement
• Conduct performance deep dives to identify operational improvement and efficiency opportunities
• Support strategic initiatives focused on revenue growth, cost optimisation and commercial performance
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to capability development within the strategy function
• Engage in cross-functional initiatives and strategic workstreams across the organisation
• Provide analytical and strategic support to executive leadership as required
Stakeholder Engagement
This role will work closely with:
• Head of Strategy
• Business unit leadership and executive team members
• External financial, legal and technical advisors
Candidate Profile
We are seeking exceptional individuals from top-tier strategy consulting or investment banking backgrounds looking to transition into a high-impact role within industry.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
• 4+ years' experience within a top-tier strategy consulting firm (MBB, LEK, Kearney, Oliver Wyman or equivalent) or leading investment bank / top-tier boutique advisory firm
• Demonstrated experience leading workstreams within structured case teams or transaction processes
• Strong analytical capability and commercial judgement
• Ability to translate complex business issues into structured frameworks and actionable insights
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with senior executives across a business
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver in a high-performance environment
• Developing or strong financial modelling capability
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
A strong academic background with relevant tertiary qualifications is expected.
