Your Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the team at Catholic Education Office in the position of Accountant (School Support), from 19 January 2026 to 17 January 2027. This is a full time contract position for 40 hours per week.
The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional communication, engagement and technical skills, to support schools and colleges in managing their financial operations and supporting informed financial decision-making.
The role is based in Rockhampton, with some travel required.
Typical duties include, but are not limited:
- Training, supporting and providing advice to principals, finance officers/managers in schools and colleges in all areas of financial management;
- Supporting end of month reconciliation, reporting and analysis processes;
- Supporting the preparation and submission of school and college forecasts and budgets;
- Liaising with external auditors as required;
- Performing internal audit function for schools and colleges;
- Assisting with ensuring Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance in schools/colleges; and
- Performing other selected duties as directed by the Assistant Director: Business and Strategy and the Finance Manager.

- A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, with appropriate experience or equivalent knowledge, qualifications and experience relevant to this role.

Mandatory Requirements
- A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner, including some travel to schools within the Diocese.
