Role Description

This is a role for a passionate and dedicated legal practitioner who wants to make a real difference in the lives of women and children.

Key responsibilities include providing legal advice, representation, and referrals across areas including family law, domestic violence, tenancy, and employment.

Representing clients in courts and tribunals, including as a duty lawyer, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver holistic, trauma-informed support, and participating in outreach work are also key responsibilities.

The successful applicant will have excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to simplify legal jargon, and a personal commitment to reflection and self-care to build resilience and minimise the impact of vicarious trauma.

Requirements

* Eligibility to hold a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory
* A minimum of 1 year of post-admission experience in an Australian legal practice
* Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and/or First Nations backgrounds
* Knowledge of general civil law matters, particularly Domestic and Family Violence
* Prior experience in Community Legal Centres and familiarity with the CLASS database

Benefits

You will receive a competitive base salary plus 12% superannuation, along with a great host of benefits including relocation assistance, six weeks annual leave, and paid professional development opportunities.

A supportive work environment with plenty of on-the-job training, high priority focus on employee wellbeing, and mentorship and training programmes are also available.
