With a world-first caving development getting underway, the business is adding key technical and leadership talent to advance the development of its flagship mine over the coming decade.
The Role
As a Mine Planning Engineer, you’ll be one of the first team members shaping the mine’s designs and schedules as development ramps up over the next six months. You will collaborate closely with the Principal Engineer, geology, and operations to translate the caving strategy into practical, safe, and executable plans.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to):
- Develop medium and long range mine plans and schedules aligned to the caving strategy and ramp-up milestones.
- Build, optimise and maintain mine designs (layouts, drill & blast, development sequences, materials handling) in Deswik.
- Provide clear, actionable planning instructions and technical support to operations to ensure safe, efficient execution.
- Monitor performance against plan; analyse variances and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional interface (production, geology, ventilation, TSF, maintenance) to assure plan compliance and risk control.
- Contribute to the implementation of planning systems, data integrity, and mine governance standards.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related).
- 4+ years’ underground experience in planning aideally with exposure to SLC or block caving mining.
- Proficiency with Deswik (or similar) and strong analytical/problem-solving capability.
- Excellent communication, with a commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
