Full time ongoing teacher contract with a 5 year position of responsibility contract.
Seeking an exceptional education leader to guide student wellbeing across our K-12 campus, and yes, you'll be working alongside our beloved wellbeing dog, Barkley
Are you passionate about transforming young lives through innovative wellbeing programs? Do you thrive in leadership roles where every day brings new challenges and meaningful impact? Can you maintain professional composure when the most popular staff member has four legs and a wagging tail?
At Bishop Druitt College, we take student wellbeing seriously - we've invested in both cutting-edge programs AND in supporting the individual needs of every student through character and graduate attributes.
The role responsibilities
As a key member of our College Leadership Team, you'll drive innovative wellbeing programs across K-12 while leading and mentoring our diverse support team including counseling staff, year coordinators, and heads of house. You'll also coordinate our popular Wellbeing Hub operations - yes, including managing Barkley the Wellbeing dog's busy schedule
Your days will involve implementing comprehensive child protection frameworks, leading crisis interventions for at-risk students, and managing complex pastoral situations with families and external agencies. You'll champion restorative justice practices and develop evidence-based curriculum alongside signature programs like rites of passage and orientation initiatives.
Community engagement is also central to this role - you'll build strong relationships with families and external support services, present at assemblies (often with your four-legged co-presenter), and collaborate closely with our Aboriginal Education Officer and Chaplaincy team. You'll also plan professional learning opportunities for staff and coordinate parent education sessions, effectively integrating the 'Barkley Program' throughout our broader wellbeing strategies.
What We're Looking For
You'll have a NSW teaching qualification with extensive experience in student wellbeing, pastoral care, secondary education or related fields, plus demonstrated leadership experience with multidisciplinary teams and a strong understanding of child protection and mandatory reporting requirements.
We're looking for someone with exceptional emotional intelligence and crisis management skills, who naturally connects with students across all age groups with a focus on high school, and someone who brings a collaborative leadership style with proven team development capabilities. Most importantly, you'll be adaptable as no two days are the same
Why You'll Love Working Here
Apart from the daily 'walkies', you'll experience the meaningful impact of watching students develop positive character attributes and thrive in programs you design and implement, while being supported by a community that truly values Wellbeing. We offer extensive professional development opportunities including specialised training. You'll be part of a genuine school community that spans K-12, with a 0.30 FTE teaching component to keep you connected to classroom practice.
Ready to Make a Difference?
If you're an experienced education professional with key experience in this area and you're ready to lead innovative Wellbeing programs, work with an exceptional team, and yes, share your office with the friendliest colleague in education, we'd love to hear from you.
