The Opportunity
Orrcon Steel is seeking a Leading Hand to join our operations team based in Cairns. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe as well as a leading Australian steel distributor with nationally recognised brands.
Our Cairns site is a busy retail branch where you’ll quickly become a valued member of the team. You will play a key role in leading, developing and motivating the operations to meet and exceed our customer requirements while focusing and maintaining high levels of safety at all times.
What Will You Do
* Support the warehouse supervisor to lead, manage and coach the operations team
* Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles using forklifts and cranes
* Demonstrate active leadership in the warehouse by assigning work, following up and providing feedback to the team
* Monitor and drive team processes and rectify any issues
* Lead by example ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and quality procedures

* High attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
* Prior experience operating forklifts and cranes highly regarded
