Job Title: Hospital Liaison Coordinator – Female Services (Temporary)

Department: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit, Mackay Base Hospital

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit is seeking a Hospital Liaison Coordinator for Female Services to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander male inpatients, their families/carers, and the community throughout their patient journey at Mackay Base Hospital.

This is an identified position as per section 25 of the Anti‐Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld). A genuine occupational requirement exists for the successful applicant to be an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Applicants must provide documentary evidence of their heritage as part of their application.

• Provide support, advocacy, and practical assistance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander male inpatients, their families/carers, and the community throughout the patient journey to facilitate coordinated care across the health continuum during their stay at Mackay Base Hospital.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the provision of culturally sensitive services that contribute to improved health outcomes and the reduction of health inequalities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The role is classified in accordance with the Phase 2 outcome provided under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No. 1) 2019. A Phase 3 process will confirm the classification of the role and may result in changes to the position title and remuneration levels, but no loss of employment conditions or remuneration will occur.
